SME Survey is the original representative survey of small, medium and micro enterprises in South Africa.
SME Survey has conducted South Africa's original and largest annual study of success factors and competitiveness of SMEs since 2003. Each year a focus area is identified and developed into a core research question or hypothesis. The findings are then published in a report that is made available to clients, while headline findings and executive summaries are made publicly available.
SME Survey 2012 was based on 2,000 interviews with a randomly selected sample of decision-makers at South African SMEs, consisting of companies with 1 to 200 employees. The core research question was: "What impact does a website have on the competitiveness, profitability and sustainability of an SME?" The findings are published in the SME Survey 2012 Final Report.
SME Survey 2013 explores the take-up of social media among SMEs, and evaluates the impact of these networks on their profitability and competitiveness. As it does every year, the Survey continues to measure Internet adoption by SMEs and the impact on their business, as well as a range of other factors that affect SME competitiveness and business sustainability.
